INTRIGUE 13TH BIRTHDAY AT THEKLA!!

Intrigue is back on board the Thekla for our 13th Birthday this February. We are extremely proud to celebrate a massive 13 years in the d&b game with the world famous DJ MARKY, all the way from Brazil! Joining him is a huge Bristol debut – DRS LIVE, featuring 8 GOLD RINGS, a five piece full live band, with guests TYLER DALEY and MC FOX. There’s also another Bristol first: NYC resident and Intrigue Music regular RAW Q! Plus residents THE INSIDERS with COLLETTE WARREN on live vocals.

Up on the top deck, Intrigue Music artists LURCH, SUPERIOR SELECTIONZ, MR:L & MILLSTONE will supply the best in deep d&b.

This event will also be the launch party for our brand new album ‘Intrigue 13’, with 13 new tracks and remixes to celebrate 13 years of Intrigue. Featuring music from Break, Random Movement & Collette Warren, Raw Q, The Insiders, RoyGreen, Protone, Lurch, Superior Selectionz, Ben Soundscape and many more, this album is a diverse collection of forward thinking drum & bass.

In a career that spans over two decades, DJ Marky has gone from an avid record collector and music enthusiast in his native Brazil to an internationally acclaimed DJ, producer and label owner. From igniting dancefloors across the globe to releasing some of the most seminal drum & bass tracks ever to see wax, he continues to amass an unsurpassable list of achievements, all driven by his dedication, phenomenal technical skills and unique flair. Retaining the same passion for music as the day that it all started, Marky remains at the forefront of not just the drum & bass scene, but the music world at large. We are excited to have him back to Intrigue after a storming set back in 2014.

DRS LIVE feat. 8 GOLD RINGS, TYLER DALEY & MC FOX

Respected amongst his peers as one of the most talented wordsmiths in UK music, multi-award winning DRS has shown over the years that he has a talent for writing, singing, rapping and an unrivalled ability to hold a crowd in the palm of his hand. 2015 saw the release of his second album ‘Mid Mic Crisis’, on Soul:R. All the stops were pulled out for this project, with the producer-list reading like a who’s who of modern electronic music. From Addison Groove and Die to Toddla T via Calibre, a triumphantly diverse album that cemented DRS as one of the leaders in his craft. As part of this next phase of his musical evolution, DRS presents DRS Live, which sees him combine with a 5 piece live band (‘8 Gold Rings’) and vocalists Tyler Daley & MC Fox to shed a new light on his music.

RAW Q
(NYC/Intrigue Music/Finebeats/Direct Drive)

NYC native Raw Q has been a major player in the American drum & bass scene since way back in 1995. His tight DJ skills and impeccable selection has earned him gigs at some of the biggest nights in North and South America. He took the scene by storm back in 2004 with his track ‘Vital Soul’ on Bingo Beats, gaining massive support from the UK scene’s top DJs. Recently he has been producing tracks for Liquid V and Intrigue Music, as well as working on new material with T.R.A.C. This is his first ever visit to the UK and we look forward to hosting him in Bristol!

THE INSIDERS & COLLETTE WARREN
(Intrigue Music)

Over the past decade The Insiders have released music on some of the most respected labels in the drum & bass scene, including Renegade, Metalheadz, Creative Source, 31 Records, Defunked, Integral, Mac II and Good Looking (as Catch 22). Regular support for their production comes from names like Marky, Fabio, LTJ Bukem, Friction, Goldie, Storm, A.I., Lynx and Hype. They will play a special set featuring some classic liquid gems from the past 13 years. The guys have been back in the studio of late so expect some dubplate pressure as well. They are joined by singer/songwriter Collette Warren, born and raised in Birmingham, with influences from Motown, jazz, reggae and soul, funk, 90’s R&B and disco. Collette is now firmly establishing herself as a talented artist, with a string of big releases recently including ‘Between the Lines’ on Exit and ‘Work it Out’ on Soul:R.
